No More Screaming

I have been enjoying the pleasure of watching the Wimbledon Tennis matches this week and am looking forward with even more enthusiasm to next week when the field is narrowed down to the really top players.

But one thing I have not enjoyed and think is unsportsmanlike and ought to be halted is the screaming of at the top of her lungs by the top woman player, Aryn Sebalenka, with each shot that she makes. It amounts to a kind of intimidation and obstruction of each of her opponents and is extremely unsportsmanlike. She claims it is just the way she breathes, but strangely she doesn’t scream in normal conversation or when talking to the press after a match. The screaming is purely a tactic to help her win tennis matches which have made her rich and famous.

I call on the Women’s Tennis Association to take corrective action. Please do not let a great sport be sullied by a poor sport player.
